We have had a cold and snowy past few months and yesterday (March 15, 2013) we were blessed with a 56 degree day. So, of course, we took full advantage of this. Kristin, Rhett and I loaded up the Burley (Rhett's birthday present) and the bicycles and headed down to Gray's Lake! That first or second ride of the season is always a catch 22. It's great to get out and get some fresh air, but it stinks to get all those muscles trained again! We had a blast – we never thought that we would get soaked, but we did due to the fact that all that snow was melting and staying on the trail which left us with rooster tails all up our backs and wet feet. It was so worth it to be riding with the family.
After this ride I learned that this season I probably won't be riding as fast as I did the previous year, probably won't go on rides as long either, but I already know this season will be my favorite! I can't wait for Rhett to be able to ride with us, to see the country side, to be able to sleep in the fresh air, to be able to laugh at us riding ahead of him, there are so many memories that I hope will be formed this year.
I'm also excited to ride The Annual Mayor's ride with Kristin and Rhett. It will be awesome for them to ride side by side all the other bikers.
Here are some pics from our ride. Thank goodness the burley had a cover or Rhett would have been soaked :)

We had a blast over the holidays with friends and family. Rhett started taking his first steps and also became very good at unwrapping gifts by the end of the holidays. He got bronchitis right before Christmas day - and didn't get rid of it until 3 weeks later.

Time has totally gotten away from me! This is just going to have to be Rhett's monthly update, for 9 and 10 months :) I will post soon with Christmas!!
Rhett has made some major strides in the past couple of months. It was just a few days before Christmas when he mastered the art of going from laying down to sitting up. He also pulls himself up on everything and is usually happy to just stand and pound on our ottoman. The day that Rhett turned 10 months was the day that he took his first steps. Usually he gets so excited after taking a couple steps that he starts laughing and then just lunges forward hoping someone will catch him. Each day since he has gotten more and more daring, so I'm sure it won't be long before he is running!
He has been giving me a bit of a hard time with eating. He thinks that he is 'too cool' for pureed foods most of the time, and wants to be eating finger foods - but he won't eat any veggies anymore! We have been doing our best to sneak them in there. Right now his favorite food is banana. He loves just about any fruit that we give him, thankfully!
Rhett has also learned to clap, throw his arms up when you say touch down, and when you say no he will shake his head and laugh (even when we are trying to discipline him - how can you be mad when he is smiling so cute!) He's learning all sorts of things but those are some of his favorites ;)
|Sorry if you were one of those that received a slobbery present this year :)|
We went on a sleigh ride for the Benjamin Christmas
And, of course we made sure we had the loudest sleigh of them all -
singing Christmas carols all the way.
The boys were proud of their Christmas ornaments
